Personalized broadcasts replace generic text with each subscriber’s own data — name, company, city, or any Custom Field you’ve defined — instead of sending the exact same message to everyone. Instead of “Hi there, check out our offer,” the subscriber sees “Hi Sarah, check out our offer for Acme Corp.” For the basic campaign setup this builds on, see How to Send a Broadcast Message in ChatSyncs.

Build a personalized broadcast

1

Set up the Custom Fields you need

Personalization pulls from Custom Fields, not Template Variables — a Custom Field stores a different value per subscriber (e.g. company_name, city), which is exactly what personalization needs. Create a Custom Field if you don’t already have the ones you want to personalize with.
2

Make sure your subscribers' data is filled in

Every subscriber you plan to target needs that field populated before you broadcast. See the three ways a Custom Field gets filled in — an extra column in a CSV/Google Sheet import, a Keyword Replies Save to Custom Field action, or an Input Flow / WhatsApp Flow form answer.
3

Insert the Custom Field into your message template

Open the template’s Message Body and insert the field from the Custom Fields picker, written as #fieldname# — e.g. #name#, #company_name#, #city#. See Custom Fields and Variables inside a template for the full builder walkthrough. Submit the template and wait for Meta’s approval before using it in a broadcast.
4

Use the personalized template in your broadcast

Create the campaign as described in How to Send a Broadcast Message in ChatSyncs — set Broadcast Type to Anytime and pick your personalized template under Select Template. Filter the audience by label or Custom Field as usual, then save and send.
Example template body:
Each subscriber automatically gets their own saved value — you don’t pass field values manually per broadcast the way you would with a plain Template Variable.

Why personalize?

Personalization isn’t just a nicer message — it’s also a quality rating safeguard, since messages that feel relevant get blocked and reported less often than identical mass text.

Frequently asked

Create a Custom Field for the data you need (e.g. company_name), make sure every targeted subscriber has it filled in, then insert it into your message template as #fieldname#. Each subscriber automatically receives their own saved value when the broadcast sends.
A Custom Field stores a different value per subscriber and fills in automatically from each subscriber’s profile — that’s what makes it personalization. A plain Template Variable needs one value assigned manually per broadcast, so it sends the same value to everyone, not a per-subscriber one.
Yes — a personalized message body is still a Message Template, so it goes through the same Meta approval process as any other template before it can be used in an Anytime broadcast.
That part of the message sends blank for them — e.g. Hi , we have an exclusive offer... with no name. Check the field is populated for your whole target audience before sending, or narrow your audience filter to subscribers who have it set.
Yes — insert as many #fieldname# placeholders as the template needs, e.g. #name#, #company_name#, and #city# in the same message body, as shown in the example above.
A Custom Field only has a value if it’s actually been populated for that subscriber. Before sending a personalized broadcast, confirm the Custom Field is filled in for everyone in your target audience — otherwise part of the message will be missing for subscribers who don’t have that field set.
