# What Is Meta — and Why Do You Need a Facebook Account for WhatsApp with ChatSyncs?

> Why connecting WhatsApp to ChatSyncs starts with a personal Facebook login — Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp under one shared identity.

**Meta** owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger — and every Meta product shares one
login. That's why connecting WhatsApp to ChatSyncs always starts with a personal Facebook
login, even for a business that never touches Facebook the social network itself.

**What you actually need:**

* One person's Facebook account, just to log in with.
* No Facebook Page.
* No posts or followers.

That login is used once, to create (or select) the Meta Business Portfolio and Meta app that
ChatSyncs connects to.

## Frequently asked

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need a Facebook Business Page to connect WhatsApp to ChatSyncs?">
    No. A personal Facebook login is enough — a Page is a separate product from the Business
    Portfolio that actually holds the WhatsApp setup.

  <Accordion title="Can I use a brand-new Facebook account?">
    Yes, though Meta sometimes asks brand-new accounts for extra identity checks. An established
    personal account tends to go through setup with fewer hiccups.
