# Understanding WhatsApp Quality Rating in ChatSyncs

> What WhatsApp Quality Rating is, how it's tied to Meta's messaging-limit tiers, and how a low rating gets a specific template paused or disabled.

* Your WhatsApp number's **quality rating** reflects how recipients react to your messages —
  blocks, reports, and low read rates all pull it down.
* See [Messaging Limits & Quality
  Rating](/meta-api/concepts/messaging-limits-and-quality-rating) for how rating ties into
  Meta's daily messaging-limit tiers.
* This page focuses on what a falling rating does to your **templates** specifically, and where
  to watch it inside ChatSyncs.

## Rating levels

| Rating      | What it means                                                                                                         |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **High** | Recipients are engaging well. Eligible for automatic tier upgrades — this is where you want to stay. |
| **Medium** | Some negative signals detected. Still eligible for upgrades, but investigate before it worsens. |
| **Low** | Recipients are frequently blocking or reporting you. Staying Low for 7 straight days triggers a tier downgrade. |
| **Flagged** | Severely degraded. Messaging limits may be restricted — stop broadcasting and fix your strategy before sending again. |

The rating is per **phone number**, not per template or per WABA — if you have multiple numbers
connected to ChatSyncs, each has its own.

## Where to check it in ChatSyncs

Your connected phone number's quality status is visible in the ChatSyncs dashboard wherever you
view your connected WhatsApp numbers — check it a few hours after any large
[Broadcast](/learn/chatsyncs-broadcasting/send-a-broadcast-message-in-chatsyncs) to catch a drop early.

## How quality rating affects your templates

A falling rating doesn't just shrink your daily messaging limit — it can hit specific templates
directly, tying straight back to the statuses covered in
[Why Templates Get Rejected and How to Fix Them](/learn/chatsyncs-message-templates/why-templates-get-rejected-and-how-to-fix-them-in-chatsyncs):

* **Template pausing** — if one specific template generates an unusually high rate of blocks or
  reports, Meta can pause *that template* even while your overall rating is still okay. A
  **Paused** template can't be sent until quality improves or you appeal.
* **Template disabling** — a template that gets paused repeatedly may be permanently
  **Disabled**. At that point you need a genuinely new template, not a duplicate of the old one.
* **Slower or stricter review** — accounts with a persistently poor rating can see slower
  approvals, or stricter scrutiny, on new template submissions.

## What affects your rating

* **Blocks** — the strongest negative signal; drops your rating fastest.
* **Reports** — a user marking your message as spam.
* **Block reasons** — Meta asks users why they blocked you; reasons like "Didn't sign up for
  this" or "Too many messages" weigh heavily.
* **Read rates** — consistently low read rates suggest your audience finds the content
  irrelevant.

## How to maintain a high rating

* **Only message people who opted in.** "Didn't sign up for this" is the single most common
  block reason — never send to a purchased or scraped list.
* **Personalize your messages.** Use Custom Fields (see
  [Template Variables vs Custom Variables — What's the Difference?](/learn/chatsyncs-message-templates/template-variables-vs-custom-variables-whats-the-difference-with-chatsyncs))
  and audience segments instead of one identical blast to everyone.
* **Don't over-message.** A good rule of thumb: no more than 2–3 marketing messages per week per
  customer unless they're actively engaged.
* **Give an easy opt-out.** A "Stop" quick reply button, or "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" text, in
  Marketing templates. An opt-out hurts your rating far less than a block does.
* **Time it well.** Send during business hours in the recipient's timezone — see
  [How Do I Set Up Business Hours for My Bot?](/learn/chatsyncs-bot-settings/set-up-business-hours-for-my-bot-with-chatsyncs).
* **Test on a small segment first.** For a new Marketing campaign, broadcast to 100–200 users
  before scaling up, and check the block/report rate before sending wider.

## What to do when your rating drops

* **Dropped to Medium** — review your recent broadcasts, identify which template likely caused
  it, and adjust targeting or content before your next send.
* **Dropped to Low** — pause Marketing broadcasts immediately. Keep sending only service replies
  and essential Utility messages. Give the account at least 7 days to recover, and clean out
  contacts who haven't engaged in 30+ days.
* **A template got paused** — don't recreate an identical template under a new name; Meta will
  likely catch and disable it too. Genuinely rework the content — shorter, more relevant, better
  targeted.
* **Dropped to Flagged** — stop all non-essential messaging and get the account back to a
  clean, opted-in, well-targeted send pattern before resuming.

## Frequently asked

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="A template that was working fine suddenly stopped sending — why?">
    Check its status in [Message Templates](/learn/chatsyncs-message-templates/creating-a-whatsapp-message-template-in-chatsyncs) — if it shows
    **Paused**, that specific template generated enough blocks or reports that Meta suspended
    it, separately from your overall account rating.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where do I see my WhatsApp number's quality rating in ChatSyncs?">
    In the ChatSyncs dashboard wherever your connected phone numbers are listed — check it
    routinely, and especially a few hours after a large broadcast.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My rating dropped after a broadcast. What should I do first?">
    Pause further Marketing sends, check which template and audience segment you used, and look
    for signs of an unengaged or non-opted-in list. Give the number a cooling-off period before
    broadcasting again.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is quality rating the same thing as business verification?">
    No — quality rating is a dynamic score based on how recipients react to your messages and
    changes weekly. Business verification is a one-time identity check with Meta that affects
    which features and tier limits you're eligible for. Both matter, but only quality rating
    needs ongoing attention.
